About Native English
Behind Native English is Mandy Chilcott, an Australian business consultant with a background in law and commerce.
During her time in Denmark, Mandy has developed an understanding of the Danish language and the unique challenges it represents in translating ideas to English. While not a certified translator, Mandy has worked closely with in-house language centres to improve translations.
After training as a commercial litigation lawyer with Hunt & Hunt Lawyers in Melbourne, Mandy moved to London and worked with law firms Devonshires and Clifford Chance. On arriving in Denmark in 2006, Mandy took on the creative role of copywriter with Copenhagen communications firm Eye for Image. Three years ago she was invited to return to the legal industry again -this time to strengthen the international projects undertaken by Danish law firm Kromann Reumert. As part of their in-house legal team, Mandy has spent the last few years working on a full range of legal and creative writing tasks, including an international legal textbook on Danish law. To develop her creative side and communication skills, Mandy's completed courses in personal training (fitness instruction), music and photography.
Mandy's experience in writing clear and accurate legal documents means that all of her projects benefit from attention to detail and text that's both concise and precise. But that doesn't mean her writing is boring! Great texts are also interesting, dynamic and relevant, and Mandy understands how to use words to bring ideas to life in the mind of the reader.
